To ensure you get the most from your fresh flowers follow these simple rules to make them last!
Remove any packaging. Keep hand tied bouquets tied if you want to retain the shape or remove the ties if you wish to arrange the flowers yourself. Cut 2-3cms from each stem at a 45 degree angle before placing the stems in a clean vase. Allow the water to cover at least half of the stem length and remove any leaves that will be submerged in water as these will decompose and start to contaminate the water. Add some flower food and place in a cool spot away from heating sources and direct sunlight. Add fresh water daily. If your arragement is in a floral foam then it should always be very wet but not sitting in excess water, equally make sure you do not allow it to dry out. Remember some pollens can stain. Do not try and use water on a pollen stain, try dapping it with sellotape to lift the pollen off. Some berries may also stain and should never be eaten.
